President Zaza Tavadze

Born on the 9th of February, 1975 in Zestaponi, Georgia.

In 1996 Mr. Zaza Tavadze graduated from the Open Humanitarian University of Georgia, Faculty of Law, with qualification of a lawyer and legal expert.

In 2001-2002 he studied at Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Faculty of Law, for German language Master's degree.

He successfully passed qualification exams for prosecutors (2004).

 Graduated from the Council of Europe Tbilisi School of Political Studies (2007).

 In 2008-2010 he studied at Tbilisi State University of Economic Relations, Master Degree Program at the Faculty of Business and Management, specialty – International Business Administration. Master theses on "International Trade of Technologies and its Legal Aspects".

In 1999 he was appointed the lawyer of Zestaponi Sakrebulo (the representative self-governing body) staff and then the Head of Organizational Department of Zestaponi Sakrebulo (the representative self-governing body) staff.

In 1999-2000 he was an Adviser of the Ministry of Justice Imereti Regional Service for local self-governing bodies.

In 2000-2004 Mr. Zaza Tavadze was a leading expert on legal issues at the Public Servants’ Financial and Property Status Bureau of the Ministry of Justice.

In 2004 he was Head of Legal Department of the Ministry of Refugees and Accommodation.

In 2004-2007 he occupied the position of a Deputy Chairman of Human Resources Department of the Office of Prosecutor General of Georgia.

From March 2007 till February 2008 he was the Chairman of Human Resources Department of the Office of Prosecutor General of Georgia.

In 2008-2010 Mr. Zaza Tavadze held the position of Deputy Minister of Justice of Georgia.

Mr. Zaza Tavadze was appointed the member of the Constitutional Court of Georgia by the Plenum of the Supreme Court of Georgia on March 30, 2010, starting to exercise the authority of the Judge on June 15, 2010 from the day of oath- taking. He was elected the Vice-President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia and President of the Second Board by the Plenum of the Constitutional Court on June 15, 2010 and June 10, 2015.  

He was elected as the President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia by the Plenum of the Constitutional Court on October 20, 2016.

Mr. Zaza Tavadze has an excellent command of German, English and Russian languages.

Mr. Zaza Tavadze is married and has three children.
