President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Mr. Zaza Tavadze and Member of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Ms. Irine Imerlishvili are participating in the 4th Congress of the World Conference on Constitutional Justice (WCCJ)

The President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Mr. Zaza Tavadze and a Member of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Ms. Irine Imerlishvili are participating in the 4th Congress of the World Conference on Constitutional Justice (WCCJ), being held on September 11-14 in Vilnius, hosted by the Constitutional Court of Lithuania  

Today, the Congress was officially opened by the President of the Republic of Lithuania Ms. Dalia Grybauskaitė, President of the Venice Commission Mr. Gianni Buquicchio and Vice-President of the European Court of Human Rights Alexandre Siciliano.

The World Conference on Constitutional Justice together with the Constitutional Court of Georgia unites 110 Constitutional Courts and relevant institutions  in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australia/Oceania and Europe. Main theme of the  4th Congress is Rule of Law and Constitutional Justice in the modern world. In the frame of the Congress, President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Mr. Zaza Tavadze and member of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Ms. Irine Imerlishvili will hold bilateral meetings with the Presidents and the representatives of the European Constitutional Courts.

With the support of the Venice Commission, the World Conference on Constitutional Justice was established as a permanent body which aims at promoting constitutional justice and human rights, as well as facilitating a judicial  dialogue between constitutional judges on a global scale.

The Congress will be officially closed on September 14.
