Summer School “Challenges of Economic and Social Rights” opened at the Constitutional Court of Georgia

Today, on September 9, 2016 the Summer School “Challenges of Economic and Social Rights” was opened at the Constitutional Court of Georgia. The participants were welcomed by the       President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Mr. George Papuashvili, Dean of the School of Law at Free University Ms. Natia Khantadze and Program Officer of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Southern Caucasus Mr. Besarion Bokhashvili.

The Bachelor  and Master students of the law faculty from various  Georgian universities are participating in the Summer School. The students will be given an opportunity to attend the International Conference organized by the Constitutional Court of Georgia “Constitutional Justice in Transitional Democracy: Success and Challenges of Constitutional Review in Georgia and Eastern Europe”. Besides, during the lecturesthe students will be given theoretical and practical knowledge about economic and social rights.  Within the frame of the Summer School the participants will meet with the members of the Constitutional Court of Georgia and Mr. Andras SAJO, Vice-President of the European Court of Human Rights.

Summer School is held with the support of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, Free University of Tbilisi, national institute for human rights; East-West Management Institute program entitled Promoting Rule of Law in Georgia (EWMI-PROLoG) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Southern Caucasus.

Summer School “Challenges of Economic and Social Rights” will be completed on September 14, 2016.
