Summer School on “Freedom of Religion in the Jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, USA Supreme Court and European Court of Human Rights” was opened
Today, on September 9, at 16:00 the Summer School of the National Institute for Human Rights, Free University of Tbilisi on “Freedom of Religion in the Jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, USA Supreme Court and European Court of Human Rights” was opened.
The School was officially opened by Vice -President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Mr. Teimuraz Tugushi, who addressed the students with a welcome speech. The School participants were also addressed by the Dean of the School of Law, Free University of Tbilisi Ms. Natia Khantadze.
Summer School participants will attend the lectures on the following topics: Freedom of religion in the USA and Europe; Case-law of the Constitutional Court of Georgia in relation to Freedom of Religion; Religious associations and changing notions of secularism and secularity in European States and societies, etc.
The lectures of the Summer School will be delivered by the lawyers of the Constitutional Court of Georgia and Professors of Free University of Tbilisi; as well as Prof. Bill Rich, Washburn University School of Law. Listeners of the Summer School will be enabled to hold Mock Trials.
The Summer School will be closed on September 13 and the participants will be granted with the Certificates of Attendance.
Summer School is hold in the framework of the USAID funded program “Promoting Rule of Law in Georgia”, implemented by the East West Management Institute. The School is also supported by the program “Legal approximation towards European standards in the South Caucasus” implemented by GIZ.
