SUMMER SCHOOL 2009
On 13th – 25th July, 2009 the summer school was held on " Freedom of Religion and Expression" in the building of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, Batumi, Georgia.
During 2 weeks the lectures were conducted by Georgian and international experts in Constitutional and Human Rights Law. Among the invited lecturers were: Mr. Malte Beyer, Academy of European Law; Ian Leigh, Professor of Law, Durham University Law School (UK); William H. Hurd, Adjunct Professor, George Mason University Law School; Mr. Rory O’Connell, Queen’s University of Belfast; Ms. Nona Tsotsoria, Judge, European Court of Human Rights; Mr. Zurab Adeishvili, Minister of Justice of Georgia; Ms. Tinatin Burjaliani, Deputy Minister of Justice; Mr. Konstantine Kublashvili, President of the Supreme Court of Georgia; Mr. Levan Ramishvili and Mr. George Meladze, representatives from the Liberty Institute (NGO); Ms. Nana Mchedlidze, Legal Expert, United Nations Development Program (UNDP) as well as the judges of the Constitutional Court of Georgia.
The lectures and seminars with participation of the foreign experts were held in English. The summer school participants were provided by transportation and accommodation.
Summer School on Freedom of Expression and Religion was organized by the Constitutional Court of Georgia and Academy of European Law (ERA) financed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg and in partnership with Ilia Chavchavadze State University and the British Council Georgia
