Visit of the Vice President of the Constitutional Court to Hungary
On January 22-23, 2025, the Vice President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, Manana Kobakhidze, was on a working visit to Hungary, in Budapest, where she participated in the international conference dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of Hungary.
The topic of the conference was: "Life Cycles in the Functioning of Constitutional Courts - Challenges and Responses".
The event was opened and the audience was welcomed by the President of Hungary, the Presidents of the National Assembly and the Constitutional Court. The Special Representative of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, Emeritus President Gianni Buquicchio, delivered a report at the conference.
The thematic sessions discussed the role of constitutional courts in the legal system and their relationship with legal traditions. The conference participants discussed the role of constitutional courts in the European space, including the impact of accession to the European Union on the process of constitutional proceedings, as well as current trends in the protection of fundamental rights.
The final session of the conference discussed the impact of the state of emergency, artificial intelligence and digitalization on the protection of human constitutional rights.
The conference was attended by chairmen and judges of constitutional courts of European countries, as well as representatives of international organizations and academia.
