President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia

 

Born on 11 August 1979, in the village of Didi Chkoni, Martvili municipality.

In 2001, he graduated from the History and Law Faculty of Tbilisi State University, Sokhumi branch, with a degree in jurisprudence;

In 2003, he passed the judge's assistant exam, in 2003 - the prosecutor's office workers' qualification exam, in 2007 - the judge's qualification exam;

In 2007-2009, he studied at the Georgian High School of Justice;

In 2002-2005 - as an attorney at the "Bar Association XXI";

In 2005-2006 - Secretary of the session of the Criminal Cases Panel of the Tbilisi City Court;

In 2006-2007 - Assistant to the judge of the Criminal Cases Panel of the Tbilisi City Court;

In 2009-2010 - Judge of the Chkhorotsku District Court and, on a secondment, exercised the powers of a judge in the Poti City Court;

In 2010-2016 - Judge of the Poti City Court;

In 2012-2016 - Chairperson of the Poti City Court;

Since February 2016 - Judge of the Tbilisi City Court;

In 2016-2017 - Chairperson of the Investigation and Pre-Trial Panel of the Tbilisi City Court;

In 2017-2018, he was a judge of the Criminal Chamber of the Tbilisi Court of Appeal;

Since October 2019, he was elected a member of the Prosecutorial Council;

In 2017-2020 - a member of the High Council of Justice of Georgia;

From October 2018 to July 12, 2021, he was a judge of the Civil Chamber of the Tbilisi Court of Appeal;

On 12 July 2021, he was elected a judge of the Supreme Court of Georgia;

From 18 April 2022 to 11 April 2024, he was a member of the Disciplinary Chamber, and from 5 October 2023 to 11 April 2024, he was the Chairperson of the Disciplinary Chamber;

From 11 April 2024 to 17 October 2024, he was a member and Chairperson of the Qualification Chamber of the Supreme Court of Georgia;

On 3 April 2025, he was appointed a member of the Constitutional Court of Georgia by the Plenum of the Supreme Court of Georgia. From 8 April of the same year, from the day of taking the oath, he began to exercise the powers of a judge;

On 16 April 2025, he was elected President of the Constitutional Court by the Plenum of the Constitutional Court of Georgia.

He speaks English and Russian.

He has a wife and two children.
