Visit of President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia in Strasbourg

On January 27, 2023 the President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Mr. Merab Turava together with the Head of the Secretariat of the Court Mr. Giorgi Lomtadze attended an Opening of the Judicial Year of the European Court of Human Rights.

In the frame of the event a seminar was held on the topic: “Judges preserving democracy through the protection of human rights”. The event was attended by Presidents of highest courts of the member States of the Council of Europe as well as high ranking officials of the Council of Europe.

After the seminar a Solemn Hearing of the European Court of Human Rights was held, during which President Síofra O'Leary and Silvana Sciarra, President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Italy addressed the audience.

In parallel to the event, President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia held meetings with President of the European Court of Human Rights Ms. Síofra O'Leary and judge Lado Chanturia as well as Georgia’s Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, Ambassador Ms. Tamar Taliashvili.
